Best Humidifier Best Humidifier For Bedroom?

Ken asks…

where in room to place humidifier?

i have a warm mist humidifer in my bedroom and i was wondering if there is a specific spot that is best for it? i currently have it next to the wall opposite my bed but it does not seem to be working for me there (i have night time stuffiness). does these work better if they are closer to your head?

answers:

I tried both a humidifier and a vaporizer and I prefer the vaporizer.

To answer your question, You should have it on the floor facing your head.
I read somewhere it should be about 5 feet away.

Good Luck!!

Maria asks…

Warm humidity or Cool vapor?

I have either a WARM HUMIDIFIER or a COOL MIST VAPORIZER available to use in my bedroom when I sleep. – Which one is “best” to stave off the warm (drying effect) of my central air unit?
Thanks – it will stay COLD(er) during this week. The weather is forecasted to stay below 20 degrees (even for the HIGH temp.)
And which Meteorologist should I blame for this consistent freezing weather? – lol

answers:

Either one will do the job. Your main goal is to increase the moisture, not the temperature. Having more moisture will allow you to remain warmer at a lower temperature. The COOL MIST doesn’t make the room cooler, the mist just seems cool when it hits you. The WARM HUMIDIFIER will make the room slightly warmer, but in doing so, the way it adds heat is not as efficient as the central unit.
So, I would lean to the COOL MIST first since you have both. Just don’t place it too close to the bed. Run it for a while before you go to bed with the door shut and then open the door as needed to reduce humidity.
Only one concern is I believe I remember something about the COOL MIST type being more susceptible to growing bacteria/mold in the unit if not cleaned properly. But, if you periodically wash with soap and water, you won’t have any problems.

I use consumerreports.org, tremendous. I bought a chain saw this year for the first time and I bought the one they recommended and I’ve been a very happy camper. Give it a try.
