Best Humidifier Greatest Humidifier?

Carol asks…

should buy a whole house humidifier?

During the winter conditions in my house are uncomfortable. We tons of static electricity, dry/cracked skin, etc….we live in two story colonial and was wondering if i should purchase a whole house humidifier? Was are the pros and cons of having one? should i just buy a stand alone? any help would be great. thanks

answers:

There are no cons that i can think of. If you have a furnace (Forced air) system, you can have a whole house unit put on relatively easily by a HVAC co. “April Air ‘ makes good ones Otherwise you can get console models with fill able tanks Bionaire, and Holmes are good names. They require monitoring to keep full. Use the evaporitive type not steam or ultrasonic they leave white powder on everything unless you use distilled water, or buy expensive filters. Static elect will be reduced Your furniture will last longer without loosening up, Your respiratory system will work better with moisture and your heating bill will be less in that moist air holds heat better are just a few of the benefits. .

John asks…

What’s the difference betweeen a humidifier and a dehumidifier? What’s the difference between cool and warm?

I need one, but I’m not sure which one is right for me. Our apartment is very dry because of our heaters. Explanations of each and/or which would benefit me would be great.

Thanx,
Me! Who’d ya think?

answers:

A humidifier is a machine that makes the air more moist (wetter) by pumping moisture into the air. I isn’t a like a mist of air, so the effects are more gradual. You’ll have to keep filling it with water depending on what seeing you have it on. A dehumidifier on the other hand sucks moister out of the air, making it drier. A lot of people use these in basements and other damp places. It uses a series of very cold metal coils to cool the air, when condences the water, which falls into a collection bin. The main problem with these is that the bin can get pretty full (depending on the room), so it can get heavy to empty. A cooler would be an air conditioner or a fan and a heater would be a space heater or a fan-forced heater.

Mandy asks…

Can someone help me out? Our Reli-on Humidifier is sucking water really slow??

The humidifier is only a few weeks old, and it was working great, but now it seems to be going through water really slowly. I don’t think it is working properly. Could someone suggest what is causing this? Do we need to clean the filter or something, and how do we do this??? Thanks.

answers:

Perhaps you don’t have as much humidity to reclaim, the most important thing with humidifiers is regular maintenance, they must be disinfected regularly to discourage bacteria and mold, try to get the owners manual.
