Best Humidifier Humidifier For Baby?

Daniel asks…
Do I need a humidifier for my baby?
And what do I need a humidifier for? What kind of humidifier should I get? Any other advice would be helpful. I am also due in August and trying to figure out what else I need to buy that might not be given at a baby shower.
answers:
Yes for when the baby has a cold

Ruth asks…
Has anyone used a humidifier in a baby’s room?
Looking for recommendations and experiences. My little boy is 7mths old and is getting a sniffle!
answers:
I’ve used them with a baby I nannied. He had a bad cold (at about 4 months old) and he was really congested. Along with typical antiobotics and stuff, the doctor told his mom and I to keep a humidifier in the room he was in as much as we could. We put one in the living room and one in his room. He also tol dus to use Little Noses Saline Mist and put it in his nose and use the little nose sucker bulb to clean out his nose at least 15 times a day. He told us that if we did all this, we could keep him from getting worse, and that he was on the verge of getting RSV. So we did all of that, and it really helped a lot. He seemed to breathe a lot better and sleep better, since he could breathe, and he got better in about a week or so. Sick or not though, having a humidifier in a room with anyone is a good thing. It can’t hurt at least. And I have the Vick’s one for myself, and it’s great. I can’t remember if the instructions said this, or if it’s something my friend told me (she has the same one-Vicks), but if it seems like it’s not putting out much steam, add a sprinkle or two of salt to the water and it works much better. I also purchased the Vick’s liquid menthol stuff when I had a bad cold, and it made me feel so much better. Check about using it with a baby though.

Susan asks…
Baby humidifier question?
My 9mnth baby has just gotten over a cold and the doctor said to just use a humidifier for a week to help her. I went into the room where she’s sleeping and it’s pretty hot, should I put a fan on? Or just no blankets? Also I have to sleep in the same room..
answers:
Just take away the blankets and put her in a onesie.
